"Is your TVR too noisy
for track days... or sprints...?"

Most older TVRs or cars fitted with sports exhausts may not pass the track day noise regulations. In many cases, there is no refund and all that can be done is to sit on the sideline and watch everyone else having fun. This can also be a problem for competition cars as well that may have tougher noise regulations at some circuits. If you fail the noise test, there is little you can do until now...

What is really needed is a unit that can easily be fitted and removed in not required. We have developed a silencing insert that meets these requirements and can reduce the exhaust noise by about 6 to 9 dB. This is usually enough for most noisy cars to meet the track regulations. The unit has been tested in Steve Heath's 390SE and reduces the noise considerably while still retaining the basic TVR note along with burbling on the overrun. Acceleration and driving tests indicate that it has a negligable affect on overall performance

The unit simply slips into the tail pipe and can either be bolted or rivetted through the exhaust pipe - this requires a small whole to be drilled in the tail pipe - or it can be supplied with an external clamp. The unit is not obtrusive and can easily be fitted or removed as required. It is about 12 inches long and can be left in the boot for those times when it may be needed.

The most difficult silencing task we have tackled has been a 450SE which was measuring some 117db! By using a combination of track day insert and an external Merlin bolt on silencer we managed to get the noise reading below 100 dB.
