While it is unlikely to happen, rolling a soft top car without a roll bar is not a good idea as there is little or no support apart from the windscreen. The driver in this accident escaped with a few scrapes and bruises much to the surprise of the emergency services when they arrived on the scene. The car was not speeding but clipped a curb on a corner and this was enough to flip it over. The MSA recommend that all competition cars are fitted with internal roll bars for this reason. As a result we have developed a range of roll bars for the Griffith, Chimaera, the S series and Wedge TVRs which provide this additional support. The roll bars are made exclusively for us by Martin Short at Rollcentre in Cambridge who is well known in the motor sport world, both as a competitor and a provider of MSA certified and tested roll bars and safety cages. While not MSA certified or tested, they are made using the same techniques and design recommendations and with the added benefit of Rollcentre's many years experience. |
