If the car is not tuned correctly and there can be many faults that can be hidden that prevent the engine delivering its maximum power. Dirty injectors, misbehaving coils can all cause issues that a rolling road session can resolve.

To check that the 390 was running correctly, the car was tuned on a rolling road by Mark Adams. The car was running in a standard production class and this meant that apart from adjusting the various sensors and engine settings, no modifications would be permitted.

The car was measured at about 210 bhp which is about 10 bhp more that a normal 4 litre V8 measures on the Power Engineering rolling road that we use. After Mark had finished tuning the car, the BHP had gone upto 226 bhp and torque to around 235lb/ft. The torque curve was pretty flat with about 200lb/ft available at around 1500 rpm.
